Manchester United

Forget Lukaku: Man Utd should try to land this £31.5m-rated striker to lead the line in 2018 – agreed?

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have been disappointed with the form of their side’s strikers this season. Whilst the likes of Alvaro Morata and Sergio Aguero are scoring on a weekly basis, Jose Mourinho hasn’t had such luck. Though he started well, Romelu Lukaku has really struggled in recent weeks, whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic has yet to prove his worth following his return from injury.

In January, then, deciding whether to sign a new forward could make or break Man Utd’s season. If they want to compete at the highest level, they need someone to score their goals, and if Lukaku and Ibrahimovic aren’t doing it, then Lazio forward Ciro Immobile certainly would.

Immobile has emerged over the last few years as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards. His goalscoring record is simply phenomenal, having already bagged 20 league goals from just 18 games so far this season. An advanced forward by trade, his main attribute comes in the form of sticking the ball in the back of the net, but his overall game is so much more.

He’s fantastic with the ball at his feet, and he has no problems working as a target man and holding up play. He’s a great technical player, and his dribbling is fantastic too. Not to mention, he’s also picked up 7 assists in the league this season, bringing his overall goal involvement to 27 in just 18 games.

Rated at £31.5 million by Transfer Markt, he won’t be a cheap signing, but if Man Utd want a player to score goals, there is arguably nobody better.
