Forget Maddison: Liverpool should sign this £22.5m-rated Bundesliga wonderkid instead

Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are over the moon after watching the Reds book their place in the 2018 Champions League final in Kiev later this month.

A 7-6 aggregate victory over Roma means Liverpool will play Real Madrid at the end of the month looking to add their sixth European cup to their trophy cabinet. Jurgen Klopp’s men have netted five goals in each of their knockout stage fixtures so fans should be in for a treat when they come head to head with the Spanish giants.

With a top four finish not guaranteed and the club’s biggest fixture in recent years just around the corner, transfer plans have not yet got underway. However, the Reds are believed to be close to sealing the signing of Norwich youngster James Maddison for £25m according to reports.

While Maddison has enjoyed a great season in the Championship, Liverpool should instead seek a deal for Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid – Kai Havertz. The 18-year-old has become a key player for the club despite his tender age; making 28 appearances so far this season. He is valued at £22.5m according to Transfermarkt.

Likened to Mesut Ozil, Havertz is one of Europe’s biggest talents. The youngster has a wonderful range of passing and an eye for goal – notching three goals from midfield in the Bundesliga. He is a physical midfielder blessed with technical ability making him the complete package.

With that in mind, he’d be a far better option going forward.

Liverpool fans, could Klopp convince Kai Havertz to move to Anfield? Let us know!
