Liverpool supporters have been somewhat downbeat in the Transfer Tavern in recent hours after seeing their side concede a late equaliser to only draw 1-1 with Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Toffees off the back of three straight wins in all competitions, and Mohamed Salah’s wonderful first half goal looked to have set them on their way to another three points. However, defender Dejan Lovren needlessly pushed Dominic Calvert-Lewin over in the penalty area, allowing Wayne Rooney to step up and slot home the resulting spot-kick to secure a point for Sam Allardyce’s men, thus preventing Klopp’s Liverpool from recording a ninth win of the campaign.
Consequently, there have been many frustrated Liverpudlians in the Tavern in the last few hours, many of whom are already turning their attentions to the January transfer window, and thus who their side could look to sign to bolster their ranks ahead of the second half of the season.
And one man they have been linked with in recent times is Augsburg left-back Philipp Max, a 24-year-old former Schalke defender who has been impressing several top English sides with his exploits in the German top-flight this term.
The full-back has scored one goal and laid on a staggering eight assists in just 15 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg, helping them to seventh place and only outside of the European places on goal difference.
And Liverpool are one side reportedly keeping tabs on the young left-back ahead of the January window, but Klopp should forget about a move for Max in the New Year, and instead focus on landing one of these TWO left-backs when the transfer window reopens…
