Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to return to the Champions League next season with a top-two finish in the Premier League looking extremely likely.
The Red Devils also have an FA Cup final against Chelsea just around the corner as Jose Mourinho looks to add another trophy to his cabinet at Old Trafford. The Portuguese has come under criticism for United’s perceived playing style this season, but no one can argue with their results this campaign.
Despite a solid season, United are still way off rivals Manchester City in the race for the title meaning reinforcements are necessary when the window reopens in the summer. Speculation persists that Anthony Martial will leave the club in search of game time with a host of Premier League clubs interested. If so, Mourinho will replace the Frenchman with a move for Christian Pulisic reportedly in the works.
Instead of Pulisic, the Red Devils should instead make a move for Bayer Leverkusen sensation – Julian Brandt. The winger has risen to prominence in the Bundesliga following a string of magnificent performances for the German club – he is now valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt. Brandt is now set for a starting role for Germany at the upcoming World Cup.
The 22-year-old has netted eight goals and notched five assists in the Bundesliga this season and has attracted the attention of Liverpool and Chelsea in the past. Compared to Pulisic, Brandt has created more chances, played more key passes and retained a higher shot accuracy per 90 minutes than the Dortmund man, according to Squawka.
Pulisic may be a great player, but Brandt could turn out to be a masterstroke of a signing.
