What a move: Here’s why Watford could be securing the signing of the summer

It’s set to be a jam-packed summer for the teams in the Premier League as they look to bring in the best players to secure as high a league placing as possible next season.

This summer looks set to be an expensive one, with some of Europe’s best sides touted with making a few big money moves. Real Madrid, a side that frequently spend big, have been linked with a move for Kylian MBappe, with fans in the Transfer Tavern proclaiming him the greatest potential signing of the summer

The Watford fans in the pub, though, tend to disagree – instead describing Will Hughes as such. Hughes, of course, is set to be at Watford next season after spending several years with Derby County.

The England U21 international was once tipped as one of the brightest young midfielders in England and at one point, his performances were attracting attention from some of the world’s best.

But over the past couple of years, managerial change at Pride Park has seen his career go a little off-the-boil, until now.

A move to the Premier League is seemingly here for Will Hughes and we think his move to Watford could turn out to be one of the signings of the summer.

The Hornets are in a period of change themselves right now having appointed Marco Silva at the helm but this is a cracking start to his summer spending.

You’ve only got to look at Will Hughes’ early performances to see how much promise, talent and drive his has inside him. His ability to pick a pass, his dribbling ability and his flair are things that stand out in his game and he’s certainly made the right decision to now make the step up.

It’s well known that the Championship is one of the toughest divisions in the world and there are some supporters that feel Hughes hasn’t been able to showcase his real talents at that level.

But next season is where it will really matter for the midfielder. He’ll be playing amongst some of the best in the world and now is his chance to step up.

If he can start showing some of the form from three years ago from the start of next season, Watford might be onto one of the signings of the summer and we’re only a couple of weeks in.
