Forget Sarri: Chelsea should move for this trophy-laden 47-year-old manager this summer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Want want their managerial situation sorted sooner, rather than later. Antonio Conte looks like he will leave the club this summer, with the Blues’ poor form not helping matters at all.

It won’t be easy, though, to replace the Italian. Fortunately, there are a few options across Europe, and one manager that has been linked with the club this week is Napoli boss┬áMauricio Sarri. He has impressed over in Italy this season, and our landlord thinks he could be a decent pick based on that.

However, our resident Blues aren’t too sure, with many hoping that, instead, trophy-laden manager Luis Enrique is appointed. Both are top-tier managers, but it’s fair to say that Enrique’s CV certainly should appeal to Chelsea.

His last team was Barcelona, and given how Roman Abramovich has always been keen to play in their style, his arrival could allow that to happen. Under Conte, the Blues have played a more defensive style, and Enrique could be a good option to turn that around.

You only have to look at all the trophies he has in his locker to recognise just how good he is. European championships, domestic cups, league titles – the Spaniard has it all. Chelsea need to improve on Conte, and it’s easy to say that based on trophies alone, Enrique would be a huge upgrade on the Italian.

Perhaps another major benefit for the Blues is that he’s currently without a job. They’re going to have to pay off Conte, unless he resigns, and so spending millions buying Sarri out of his Napoli contract won’t be easy. As such, financially, Enrique makes sense.

In truth, there isn’t really any downside to bringing in the former Barcelona boss.
