Forget Wijnaldum: This Liverpool man simply must start against Tottenham on Sunday – agreed?

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern want to see a lot more of James Milner this season. The Englishman was a regular under Jurgen Klopp last term, but that hasn’t been the case this year. With Alberto Moreno improving his form over the last few months, the Spaniard has forced his way back into the fold, and that has unfortunately come at the expense of Milner.

That said, when Milner has played this season he has looked good, and he put in a commanding display against Maribor on Tuesday night. Playing more centrally, the Englishman was arguably Liverpool’s Man of the Match, and so our landlord thinks that he deserves to play against Tottenham this weekend. Based on merit, the Englishman certainly deserves to feature, with his excellent passing and hard work likely to be crucial against the Lilywhites.

What’s more, his experience and leadership would also be massive, with Wembley likely to be an intimidating place to go for the Reds.

Georginio Wijnaldum has struggled this season, and thus far he hasn’t really put his mark on the campaign. In truth, he looks like he needs a rest, and Milner could be the perfect player to come in. If performs half as well against Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp could be on to a winner.
