For the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, the signing of a new forward is a priority in January. Roberto Firmino hasn’t been firing particularly frequently this term, whilst Daniel Sturridge’s fall from grace has been well documented. A proven, top quality striker could be a decent signing, then, and one player that might be a good fit is Roma star Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko is, of course, well known from his time at Man City. During his last spell in the Premier League, he bagged a very stellar 50 league goals, which is a decent record given his relative lack of action from the start. Offering lethality in front of goal, an aerial presence and a decent work rate, Dzeko was a very solid option for the Citizens. He’s proven that he can still do it against Europe’s best with Roma, too, with a brace against Chelsea earlier this year shocking everyone in the Transfer Tavern.
He’s 31-years-old now, but his fine form is showing no sign of slowing down. The striker has been a star for Roma this year. He has already picked up 8 league goals this season, and he is every bit as good as he was last season and in the years prior. He’s rated at £19.8 million by Transfer Markt, which is undoubtedly good value for a player that can practically guarantee goals at any level – even in the Premier League.
Even if he didn’t play every week, the Reds could often turn to him to score goals on the biggest occasions, and that is what Klopp is lacking right now.
He’d be a great signing – agreed?
