‘Forgot he existed’, ‘Needs a comeback’ – Man United fans split over recent Mourinho revelation

Jose Mourinho’s comments in his press conference today have divided opinion among Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern. Mourinho stated that 36-year-old Swedish legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is likely to be playing his last season in Manchester. However the decision on Ibrahimovic’s return date lies with the player himself.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has always been the centre of attention. Whether he’s scoring ludicrously good goals, or falling out with managers, the Swedish striker always finds himself in the headlines. The Swede has bagged himself an incredible 403 goals in 683 club appearances for some of Europe’s top sides including Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Paris-Saint Germain and now Manchester United.

Despite joining Mourinho’s Manchester United aged 34, Zlatan finished top scorer for the Red Devils last season and has scored 29 goals and set up a further 10 in his 53 outings for the Manchester club. His first season at United also saw him score the winning goals in the Community Shield and League Cup final, plus a strong vein of form saw him help propel United to Europa League glory, despite the fact he missed the final with a knee injury.

Mourinho re-signed Zlatan on a one-year extension after he overcame injury, however after becoming injured again against Burnley on Boxing Day many United fans are not unsure if they’ll ever see the big Swede line-up at Old Trafford again.
