Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been moping around in the bar since yesterday’s draw with Tottenham, which led to the Gunners trailing league leaders Leicester City by eight points and extending their woeful run of form to just two victories in the last 12 matches.
As such, many around the bar are hoping Arsene Wenger calls it time on his 20-year stint with Arsenal this summer- and recent speculation from The Sunday Express states that it’s likely to happen.
According to the reports, Wenger will be ‘invited’ to step down this summer to avoid the embarrassment of axing the most successful manager in Arsenal’s history- and former Gunners captain Patrick Vieira is favourite to replace him.
Vieira left Arsenal in 2006 having won plenty of honours during his time in north London but his managerial record is yet to begin, as he’s set to lead New York City FC for the first-time in the MLS this evening.
That’s left our landlord and the fans extremely concerned, as they don’t believe the former French international has the required credentials to lead Arsenal to success.
Arsenal fans, would this be a good decision by your board? Let us know in the comments below!
