Former Arsenal legend tips star forward to remain at Emirates despite Man City interest

There’s a hugely busy season ahead down at the Emirates and the pressure is on manager Arsene Wenger to start bringing the silverware back to Arsenal once again.

The French manager was given a two-year contract extension despite his recent struggles in North London- a decision that certainly didn’t go down too well with some of the drinkers here in the bar.

But it’s he that will lead them into battle once again and armed with new striker Alexandre Lacazette, things should be looking up for the Gunners sooner rather than later.

And keeping hold of another star player will be key to Arsenal’s long-term success moving forward and one player that has been tipped to leave this summer is Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez.

The former Barcelona man has been linked with a move to Manchester City but according to former defender Martin Keown, he’s a player that isn’t going to ‘down his tools’ to move away.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Keown said: “Sanchez will be the one now which everyone talks about – and let’s see how Arsene Wenger handles that. He (Wenger) has his contract (extension), and I don’t think Wenger will be in any rush, he will want to keep the player”.

“I think he (Sanchez) is going to play, wherever he is, I don’t think he is the sort of lad who will down tools,” he added.
