It’s been a seriously tough season down at the Emirates for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal, who’s supporters here in the Tavern are giving up faith with the first-team.
The Gunners were overwhelmed by arch-rivals Tottenham this weekend, losing 2-0 at White Hart Lane in the last game at the old version of Spurs’ stadium.
The result means Mauricio Pochettino’s team will finish above the Gunners for the first time in 20 years but for one former Arsenal player, the future of some of the first-team squad remains very much in doubt after yet another disappointing result.
Talking to TalkSport, Charlie Nicholas believes his former employers should sell Alexis Sanchez to Chelsea, rather than meet his contract demands.
He said: “He (Sanchez) has not been interested in the game for the last eight weeks. He is camouflaging it.
“I would sell him. Get him out. If he wants to go to Chelsea and Chelsea want to pay £60million, I would sell him to Chelsea,” he added.
The comments have come as a real surprise to some of the Arsenal fans lining the bar here in the Tavern, who would draw the line at selling such a big player to a rival club.
Gunners fans- where does Sanchez’s future lie and would you pay him £200,000-a-week? Leave your thoughts below!
