Arsenal fans have had a quiet weekend here in the Football Transfer Tavern but the Daily Mirror could be about to change that.
The publication have claimed that the Gunners are leading the race to net former star Alex Song, who of course left for Barcelona, yet has endured a torrid time since his move to the Camp Nou.
Now, after being frozen out of the first team at the club, Song is looking towards the exit door and Barcelona are keen to cash in on the 26-year-old Cameroonian who only has one year left on his current deal.
Song will not be offered a new deal at the Camp Nou, with the powers that be keen to get rid of one of their worst signings of the past decade.
Song is being tracked by Everton as well, but we think that the chance to move back to his former club and to play under a manager who he knows well and who trusts him could well be the key in the battle to land the star.
Not only is Song leaving this summer, but Cesc Fabregas could also be on his way with the Catalan giants willing to listen to offers for the Spanish international midfielder.
Arsenal fans. Would a move to re-sign Song prove valuable like the re-capture of Mathieu Flamini last summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
