Havard Nordtveit left Arsenal in 2010 without having made as much as a single first team first team appearance. However it is rumoured that the Norwegian international could be granted a dream return to the Premiership with Liverpool.
The 21 year-old Nordtveit has featured heavily so far in what looks like being a successful season for Borussia Monchengladbach, and could be a useful addition to a Liverpool side looking to build for the future.
Sky Sports are reporting that Liverpool scouts have watched the defensive midfielder on numerous occasions this season, and the reds are said to be suitably impressed to be considering a bid.
As Liverpool look towards establishing a solid foundation for future success the defensive minded Nordtveit is of an age that could see him moulded into a long term fixture at Anfield. The majority of Liverpool younger signings thus far under Dalglish have been attacking players meaning defensive additions are likely to be next on the Liverpool agenda.
A key factor of Nordveit’s game is breaking up the oppostion’s play and then intelligently distributing the ball to those with more attacking ability. This could be of use to a Liverpool side featuring the attacking minded Adams, Downing, Suarez and Carrol in years to come.
The player himself appears eager to return to England, with Sky Sports quoting the young Norwegian as replying to the question of whether he would like a return to these shores with “Yes, absolutely. Premier League is a great league and it’s every boy’s dream to play there.”
