Former Aston Villa assistant tried helping controversial striker

Gabby AgbonlahorThe Aston Villa fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by a former assistant manager of the club.

Talksport were interviewing Ray Wilkins who revealed that he tried to help controversial striker Gabriel Agbonlahor during his time at the club but it fell on deaf ears.

The 28 year old has been in and out of the squad this season and has been suspended by the club on two occasions for his actions whilst away from the club, and has been placed on a fitness plan by caretaker manager Eric Black.

Speaking about trying to help Agbonlahor, Wilkins said:

“It’s very sad to see. You attempt to help out these guys. I had words with Gabby when I was at the club earlier this season about his physical condition, but he said he could get himself in nick and do it on his own. “

“In a controversial manner, Gabby is arrogant. He told me not to worry about him. I thought to myself at the time, ‘now come on, we need you and we need to get you back on track’. But obviously my words fell on deaf ears.”

The Villa fans in The Tavern think the player should just be sacked due to his arrogant and unprofessional attitude and many never want to see him in a Villa shirt again.

Villa fans, will you be glad to see the back of this forward? Let us know in the comments below!
