Former Blues defender accuses Chelsea of disrespect towards legend

LuizChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are raising their glasses in agreement towards comments made by a former defender of theirs, which condemn the club’s treatment of their iconic captain.

Ahead of the Blues huge Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain tonight, Metro quote Brazilian defender David Luiz as slamming the West London side’s treatment of John Terry.

Luis played alongside the Chelsea captain before sealing a £50m switch to the French capital and he’s made his opinion on the Blues controversial decision not to hand Terry a new contract very clear, as he’s accused the Blues of disrespect.

‘John is probably Chelsea’s greatest ever player, the club need to show him some more respect. He has been clear that he wants to stay at the club, and they are making him wait for an answer. That is not how you treat a player who has given you so much and been a big part of so much success. The fans love John – if this is not handled well, they are not going to be happy.’

‘I am confused why John hasn’t been offered a new contract. He is still the best central defender at the club and one of the best in England, there should be no question about him being offered another a year.’

Luiz will not face off against Terry tonight as the 36-year-old defender is absent with an injury sustained in the weekend’s drubbing of Newcastle United, in what could be a massive loss for the Blues.

Our landlord agrees with the fans in the Tavern and David Luiz, stating that Terry deserves a new deal at Chelsea.

Blues fans, is the decision not to hand Terry a new contract inexcusable? Let us know in the comments below!
