Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have quickly gathered around the bar to discuss reports that a former manager of their side is prepared to sell one of his established players to the Blues this summer.
The Sun states incoming Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has informed World Cup winning midfielder Mario Gotze that he’s no longer needed with the Bavarian giants, which has alerted a number of Premier League sides to his services.
Arsenal and Liverpool are amongst those linked to the player’s signature but Ancelotti’s links with his former club Chelsea may hand the Blues an advantage, as he’s informed them they can land Gotze for a fee of £35m.
23-year-old Gotze has struggled to make a lasting impression with the Bavarian giants since he moved there from arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund but he’s still highly-rated and could prove to be a tremendous asset for Antonio Conte’s new look side.
However, with Conte eyeing a number of names from Italian football, our landlord doesn’t believe he’ll pay the price in question for Gotze.
Chelsea fans, should you bite Ancelotti’s hand off for Gotze? Let us know in the comments below!
