A story has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern regarding a return to the Premier League for a former Chelsea star, courtesy of sources at The Sun.
Former Chelsea forward Soloman Kalou is reportedly a summer target for Arsenal, who showed an interest in him the previous summer transfer window, before he eventually made a switch to French football with Ligue 1 Lille.
Although now after one season away, it seems the Ivory Coast international has his heart set on a return to the Premier League, where he spent six years with Chelsea.
Kalou declared: “I’d love to go back to England.
“I spent six seasons there and I am crazy about the Premier League.
“Players’ careers change so quickly — you never know what will happen tomorrow.”
Wenger has a reported £70 milion transfer budget to play with in the summer, and would be confident of signing Kalou for around £7 million.
There has been speculation regarding the future of Lukas Podolski – a man only bought in last summer himself – and Kalou may be viewed as a like for like replacement, as someone who can play anywhere across the front three but would be happier in the wider areas.
The 27-year-old had a decent goals to game ratio during his time at Stamford Bridge, and played his part in Chelsea’s historic Champions League triumph last season.
Will Arsenal look to bring Kalou to the Emirates Stadium this summer or is this pure baloney? Rate this rumour below.
