Chelsea’s transfer policy is discussed often and loudly amongst the Blues in the Transfer Tavern, with our West London punters lamenting the premature departures of Kevin De Bruyne and the like.
While the name Jeffery Bruma may not ring through the halls of Stamford Bridge with as much lament as the £54m Man City ace or compatriot Romelu Lukaku, the Wolfsburg defender has revealed the club were interested in bringing him back.
He progressed through the club’s academy before being one of many farmed out on loan to a number of clubs, including now Premier League champions Leicester City back in 2011.
After winning two league titles on the bounce with PSV Eindhoven, the 24-year old made a return to the big leagues with a move to Die Wölfe earlier this summer.
However, the Dutch international has sensationally revealed that he did indeed have the option of returning to West London, after impressive with the Eredivise giants.
“I had other options. Inter Milan from Italy, I could go back to Chelsea after England, who sought to me”, he told SportBild.
“Wolfsburg is a club where I can play, if my services agree. This is very important for my further development. If Chelsea or Inter, it would have been difficult for me to make as a player to the next step.”
