Former Chelsea defender urges Blues to keep hold of Hazard

HazardChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern this afternoon raised a glass in approval after hearing quotes made by a former Blues defender, who urged the club to do everything they possibly can to keep Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge

Graeme Le Saux, speaking exclusively to, dubbed the PFA Player Of The Year as ‘precious’ and believes he’s an integral part of getting Chelsea back on track this season.

“If you get him into the same frame of mind he was in last season then he is a special player who can be the difference. I’ve seen a lot of him this season and he has struggled but it’s not his work-rate that is letting him down or attitude or confidence in making himself available. In front of goal he has hit a wall and can’t score and it’s had an impact on the rest of his game.”

“I just think he is a precocious talent and if I was in Guus Hiddink’s shoes every single day I’ve have a meeting with him to make sure he feels wanted. Not to mollycoddle him but if you can get him to deliver the whole team changes. He’s that important. So I would be absolutely desperate to keep hold of him.”

Hazard seems certain to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer due to Chelsea’s dwindling hopes of landing Champions League football, with the Blues just four points above the relegation zone, and our punters are worried it could lead to a mass exodus.

Our landlord has been digging into the full interview from Le Saux, where he talks about Liverpool, Leicester City and others. To read the full interview, head to
