Chelsea captain John Terry is at the very top of the list of players which clubs over in China are wanting to recruit in the summer, according to former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
The Blues supporting drinkers here in the Tavern are pretty resigned to the fact that Terry will stick to his initial announcement at the end of last month, where he confirmed that he will leave the club where he has been for 18 years.
The former England manager gave an exclusive interview with the Sun on Sunday and believes Terry is sought-after in the Far East.
He said: “There is a lot of talk about John Terry in China. He has been one of the greatest defenders in the world for the last 15 years.
“He is doing very well and has a lot to offer. He is one of the most recognisable players in world football.
“Chinese teams are looking for these big players. Great teams need great leaders and they don’t come much better than John Terry.”
Sven could try and tempt Terry into playing for his team with the Swedish manager currently in charge of Shanghai SIPG.
One Chelsea fan is sat in the smoking area and still cannot get his head around the fact that Terry will not be at Stamford Bridge next season.
Chelsea fans… Will Terry make the move to China in the summer? Can he still play in a top European league?
