This is a great day for all football fans, even those of Arsenal, as Liverpool cult hero John Barnes has only gone and done it again! His rapping skills have football fans from all over the world wondering whether he chose the wrong profession, but luckily he’s returned to the mic for an old friend.
The former England international wowed fans during his playing career with his role in New Order’s ‘World in Motion’ and the Anfield Rap and it now seems he can’t resist reminiscing about the good old days. When speaking at a public event the Kop legend used his own unique way of doing the old one two three on his microphone. The funny thing about this video from Liverpool YouTube fan channel The Redmen TV is the fact he didn’t know he was being filmed at first.
Yet when he realised instead of cowering behind his lectern with embarrassment Barnes ingeniously improvised and continued with the rap in perfect rhythm. As his rendition of Sugarhill Gang’s 1979 hip-hop hit ‘Rapper’s Delight’ went on in actually got even better. One could easily mistake Barnes as a rapper hired for entertainment rather than a legend of a multiple title winning side.
It’s just a mark of the man that he is able to show off his versatile talents in this way. He is so good that the presenters let out a couple of naughty words during the video so don’t say you weren’t warned!
