What do Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern think of Jurgen Klopp? They love him. However, the German isn’t convincing everyone about his style of management.
Fellow Liverpool favourite Dietmar Hamann isn’t so sure on Klopp’s style, stating the club aren’t going to be successful playing “100 miles per hour for 90 minutes every three days.”
The Reds finished fourth last season and while securing Champions League football was the primary goal, fans in the Tavern do admit their title push went out with a whimper as the season drew to a close. The lack of trophy also didn’t seem to go down too well with punters.
However, a return to the Champions League is a massive plus but Hamann thinks they may have to adjust their style if they are to be successful on all fronts.
“I don’t know if they have the tactical nous, whether they’ve got the capabilities to play 55, 60 games the way they play and be competitive,” Hamann said to FourFourTwo.
“I think they’ve got to find another way of winning games. You can’t go at 100 miles per hour for 90 minutes every three days, it’s simply not possible. Because other teams are too good and you need to be streetwise and you need the tactical nous about you, about them.
“I think we’ll find out a lot about the team and the manager this coming season.”
Despite Hamann’s reservations of Klopp’s style, our landlord believes he knows exactly what he’s doing. A couple more new players to join the already signed Mohamed Salah should be enough to keep the side energised in every game they play.
Liverpool officially start their season away to Watford on August 12th, a date punters are eagerly awaiting as it signifies the start of the new season.
