Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are confident of securing Champions League football at the end of the season, especially after the poor seasons we’ve seen from Manchester United and Manchester City!
But one piece of news that has Reds fans here in the pub really talking this afternoon is that former star Mohamed Sissoko is being lined up for a transfer to Indonesian giants Mitra Kukar, according to the BBC.
Whilst being little-known in England, the three-time Champions are a big side back in Indonesia and if he passes a medical in time, Sissoko could be eligible for Mitra’s second league game of the season against PSM next weekend.
Sissoko enjoyed a strong spell with Liverpool back between 2005 and 2008 and Sissoko was a key part in the Reds side that won the FA Cup back in 2006. Our Reds-mad barman has fond memories of defensive kingpin Sissoko charging up and down the pitch for the Reds, moving anything in his way!
He becomes the fourth former Premier League player to move to Indonesia, after Michael Essien, Carlton Cole and Peter Odemwingie all tried their luck in the country.
Reds fans- is this a move that surprises you? What are your memories of Sissoko- leave your thoughts in the comments below!
