Former Man City Target Holding Out For Juve Move

“The market is never closed” according to Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta.

Marotta dined with Wolfsburg chief Dieter Hoeness where they talked over a move for prolific striker Edin Dzeko according to Sportsmediaset.

Dzeko apparently turned down moves to Manchester City and Bayern Munich over the summer as his preferred destination is Turin. The Bosnian hit-man has scored better than one in two for his German club and is said to be very keen to join Juventus as soon as possible.

Wolfsburg signed Brazilian playmaker Diego from Juve in the summer and is now looking at bringing former Liverpool man Momo Sissoko in as well. Marotta wants to make Sissoko part of a swap deal involving Dzeko.

The big Bosnian is one half of the most prolific strike partnership in Bundesliga history. He and Grafite scored fifty six goals between them in the 2008/09 season surpassing a twenty seven year record held by Gerd Muller and Uli Hoeness who scored fifty three. For his performances over the year he won Players Footballer of the Year.

Dzeko has scored sixteen goals in twenty eight games at international level. That’s a hell of an achievement playing for a country as poor as Bosnia.

He’s a rare mix of physical strength and ability on the ball. At six foot three inches he’s a handful for the strongest of defenders but is deceptively skilful on the ball as well.

If Juventus get Dzeko I’m confident they’ll go from top six to title challengers again should he settle well.
