Here in the Transfer Tavern, the Manchester United contingent of supporters have been bellowing out for sometime that they want Jose Mourinho to replace the hapless Louis Van Gaal.
The Dutchman has been under pressure since Christmas and has failed to impress since, with boring performances and questionable ones too- most recently throwing away a lead twice to draw 3-3 with Newcastle United.
Whilst our angry punters sinking their pints believe Mourinho would be the ideal replacement, they’re surprised to hear former defender David May suggest otherwise. Speaking exclusively to 888sport.com, he said:
“My first question would be how long is he going to stay? If he’s here for ten years then that’s fine but Mourinho must also realise that the fans are blood-thirsty for attacking football whereas he’s turned up at Old Trafford before now without a centre forward.”
“If he does that two or three times a season then fair enough. You can expect it going to Liverpool or Arsenal but even then you don’t want ten men behind the ball and think a draw is a good result.”
Our punters believe he’s raised a very good point and agree with what he’s saying, and they’ve all buzzed onto their phones quickly to read the full interview here.
United fans, would appointing Mourinho be a mistake? Let us know in the comments below!
