They’re well aware that Robin Van Persie is not enjoying his time with Fenerbahce and expected him to be on the move in January- but not to Spanish giants Barcelona!
Sensationally, Mundo Deportivo states the 32-year-old forward will be offered an escape route by the treble-winners in January after Barcelona’s technical director Robert Fernandez watched him in action for Holland against the Czech Republic.
Van Persie scored twice in the 3-2 defeat, though one was a comical own-goal, as Holland failed to qualify for the European Championships; despite finishing third and second in the last two World Cup tournaments.
Barcelona want Van Persie as a credible back-up option for their front trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar whilst the deal would echo similar moves in the past for veteran stars Thierry Henry and Henrik Larsson.
Whilst United fans at the bar see the appeal of adding a forward to Barcelona’s squad, they refuse to believe that signing Van Persie is a genuine possibility.
United fans, how crazy would this transfer be- were you right to let him go? Let us know in the comments below!
