The Newcastle United fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports linking one of their squad with a possible move this summer.
The Shields Gazette is reporting that former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is keen to take Jonjo Shelvey to Crystal Palace this summer.
The midfielder who was former manager Steve McClaren’s final signing for the club when he was signed for £12 million has an uncertain future on Tyneside under Rafael Benitez.
Shelvey barely started for the Toon Army during the final few weeks of the season and Pardew is willing to give the midfielder a fresh start in London.
It is believed that Benitez would let Shelvey leave the club this summer even though he is under no pressure to sell any of his high earners this summer.
The only stumbling block to a potential deal will come when personal terms are being discussed as it is unclear as to whether or not Shelvey would take a pay cut to Palace.
Would Shelvey be a good signing for Palace? Let us know in the comments below!
