Metro have a claim that has our punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern looking up with interest.
They claim that Swansea City’s Ashley Willams has attracted some major interest from not only Liverpool but also Serie A giants Napoli.
The Welsh international defender has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and now we think that he could well be the subject of a bidding war in the summer.
Arsenal are still on the lookout for a central defender and Liverpool are also known fans of the player who was of course managed by Brendan Rodgers during his time in charge of the Welsh club.
One of our punters notes that a former Liverpool manager also has eyes on the player with Rafa Benitez considering a move to take Williams to Napoli.
After the departure of Michael Laudrup, we are unsure just how the season will pan out for Swansea.
But over pouring a pint, our landlord notes that should the Welsh side actually get dragged into a relegation fight, assessing his options and future elsewhere may well be the first thing on the mind of Williams.
Napoli of course knocked Swansea out of the Europa League last week and may well come back to haunt them again!
We reckon that if Williams is to leave Swansea this summer, it will be to another Premier League club. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
