There’s a huge season on the horizon for Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp and their supporters here in the Tavern are optimistic it could be the best one yet under the German.
The Reds just about secured Champions League football last time out and the pressure is now on the team to start picking up their domestic form in the league.
But they’ve certainly made strides to do just that already and the early £39million capture of former Chelsea winger Mo Salah was quite the statement of intent from Reds boss Klopp.
The Egyptian international, who’s ill-fated spell in England with the Blues was deemed an overwhelming failure, got his career back on track in Italy last season.
And it’s not only the Liverpool fans here in the bar that are optimistic he can do good things next season- with former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince also confident that he can do a job at Anfield next campaign too.
“I watched him play a lot this year at Roma. He scored a few goals – 15 or 16 this year I think he got, playing on the right wing. He scored all different types – long range, in the box,” Ince told Sky Sports.
“It didn’t really work for him at Chelsea, he didn’t get enough game time I don’t think.
“But he’s gone away, got his confidence back and he’s come back to a great club like Liverpool and I think he’ll be a great addition to Liverpool and I think the fans will enjoy seeing him play,” he added.
So with both the pundits and the supporters already excited about the season ahead, will signings like Salah let the Reds really shine in the Premier League next time out?
