After Stoke City fans said ‘au reviour’ to their player of the season in a £7 million transfer to Sevilla in this summer’s transfer window, there were sniggers in the Transfer Tavern as they watched N’zonzi receive two second half yellows on his debut for Sevilla against Malaga, consequently being given his marching orders in the 68th minute.
Stoke fans have since read on as N’zonzi has addressed the Spanish media, as reported in the Stoke Sentinel, claiming ‘there is a big difference in the game and referees between England and here’, prompting questions whether he can settle into La Liga and cement his place in the Sevilla starting eleven after also missing the European Super Cup Final through a bout of gastroenteritis.
Nzonzi went onto say he was impressed with the stadium and fans as he sat helpless on the sidelines in Sevilla’s recent 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.
However for a player who has handed in three transfer requests at his last club Stoke City, it remains to be seen whether the temperamental Frenchman will stick it out at the Spanish side after a nightmare start to his dream move to a champions league club. Our Stoke fans were heard discussing with the landlord whether or not his style of play suits Spanish football and whether he may push for a move back to England in the near future.
Stoke fans, do you feel N’zonzi should have stayed in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
