Former Swansea boss rules out return as he eyes ridiculous target

RodgersThere are sighs of relief from the Swansea City fans in the Transfer Tavern after reading reports that there will be no second chances for one of their former managers after Garry Monk was relieved of his duties at Swansea.

An article from The Times has revealed that Brendan Rodgers is expected to reject the chance to return to Swansea in place of Garry Monk as he is eyeing up the chance of a bigger challenge in the future.

Monk was given the axe yesterday after Swansea Chairman, Huw Jenkins, deemed his performance to have been lacking for too long and Rodgers was amongst a list of names to take the helm at the Liberty Stadium.

Rodgers initially left Swansea to take charge of Premier League giants Liverpool but after falling short of winning the Premier League in 2014, Liverpool’s form declined and the axe was inevitable for Rodgers.

However, Rodgers has insisted that he has no desire to return to club, regardless of his previous successes there, as he is eyeing up the possibility of replacing Roy Hodgson as England head coach in the not-so-distant future.

With the former Swans boss potentially ruling himself out as he sets his sights on an international management career, Mark Warburton, currently in charge of Scottish side, Rangers, is the surprise favourite to take responsibility at the Liberty Stadium.
