It has left Hoops fans hoping that the French international will still be at the West London club next season – giving their Premier League survival chances a major boost.
To survive in the division they are going to need further Premier League experience added to their ranks and according to talkSPORT, that could come in the shape of Niko Kranjcar.
The Croatian midfielder, who played in the English top-flight with Tottenham Hotspur, spent the entirety of last season on loan at Loftus Road from Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev.
He started the Hoops’ victorious Championship Play-Off Final game against Derby County before going off with a serious injury and Redknapp is hopeful a deal can be done.
“I like Niko. If he’s free,” Redknapp said.
“There’s a deal to be done with his club on his wages. He wants to come back here. He can play Premier League football, there’s no doubt about it. They’re the type of players we need – players with a bit of quality.
“They are still talking to his club. I think his agent is looking at it and can do a deal that suits the club. He would like to come and will take a massive drop in wages to come back here. He enjoys it and is a good lad.”
The R’s have of course already landed two players with Premier League experience in the form of Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker.
