The former West Ham forward moved to the Italian capital after being left disillusioned with life and his career in London and contemplated early retirement from the game. Speaking to The Sun, Morrison said:
“At times I wanted to stop playing because I felt I had done everything right to be playing in the team. I started to dislike the sport because it seemed it did not matter how hard I worked, I wasn’t in the side.”
Whilst at West Ham, Morrison spent time on loan at Birmingham City, QPR and Cardiff City but struggled to force his way into the then West Ham manager Sam Allardyce’s side. Morrison also claims that some big clubs were after him before he decided to join Lazio.
“Fiorentina, Napoli, Sporting Lisbon and Atletico Madrid were all interested and talking to my agent.”
Since joining Lazio things have not exactly gone to plan for Morrison yet this season and he has been restricted to three substitute appearances. However the youngster is a talent and if he can sort out his discipline problems then Lazio and England could have a really top player on their hands.
West Ham fans, will Morrison ever get his career on track? Let us know in the comments below!
