Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are an anxious bunch after The Mirror linked them with a triple swoop for Southampton duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez, not to mention Napoli’s Raul Albiol.
It looks as though under pressure Mauricio Pochettino is looking to transform his Spurs side in January with three key signings but punters don’t think these signings are enough to allow them to challenge for the top four.
In order for Pochettino to establish a new spine in his side, he will have to offload a hefty amount of first team players off the wage bill.
It is no secret that he has been pursuing both of the aforementioned Saints players after Schneiderlin incredibly tried his utmost to force a move away from St Mary’s during the exodus down south last summer.
In Jay Rodriguez, it looks as though the former Southampton boss trusts the striker who is currently returning from his horrific injury which ruled him out of the running for a place in the World Cup squad.
Then moving onto an ambitious target in Napoli’s Raul Albiol, it looks as though it will take a lot to take the Spaniard away from Rafa Benitez, who will be desperate to keep his Spanish centre half at the Italian club.
It is reported that after Pochettino identified these three targets, their technical director Franco Baldini plans to offload Emmanuel Adebayor, Jan Vertonghen, Aaron Lennon and Mousa Dembele.
