Fred, Dalot done: Now it’s time Woodward gave Mourinho these 2 world stars

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are applauding Jose Mourinho for trying to get his transfer business done and dusted before the World Cup starts, so he can crack straight on with his squad for a full pre-season, as he bids to close the gap on Man City.

If it wasn’t for local rivals Man City’s unbelievable campaign, the Red Devils would have surely been in the mix for the top prize in English football this season. Despite this, United under Jose Mourinho have had their best season in the Premier League since they last won it in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge, and despite many claims, there are improvements in United since he took over.

Mourinho has addressed some of the issues by bringing in Fred and Diogo Dalot early doors in the earlier transfer summer window.

Still, for Mourinho and his men to level up next season, many of the regulars in the back room feel they need a couple more quality players in certain key areas of the pitch to bolster their chances.

With that in mind, our landlord feels United should be going all out for these two stars to Old Trafford next season, and they could certainly be the difference between another second-place finish or being the Champions…

OUR VERDICT – Toby Alderweireld & Toni Kroos

Current Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld is into the last year of his contract and there are growing links to Old Trafford getting stronger each passing day within the pub. The Belgian would certainly bring a level of experience to the team and would vastly improve the back line.

If Mourinho wants to go fully for the title next year then the foundation of the defence is where he must start, and there’s no better than Alderweireld at present in the Premier League.

Furthermore, if Woodward can finally convince Toni Kroos, who is probably one of the only players around Europe who can come to Old Trafford and directly replace the retired Michael Carrick to arrive, then it will be a successful window. Kroos is a player to link the back to the front within the team and is just the type of player United need.
