Our Championship fans have ordered their drinks and taken their seats with excitement today as the emergency loan window for Football League clubs opened today, and they look to be here for a while in hope of good news. The loan window could see some Premier League clubs offload players they deem surplus to requirements.
Reports in the Shield Gazette are that one of those possibly on his way out is Newcastle striker Yoan Gouffran with Middlesbrough, Hull and Nottingham Forest having all been credited with an interest in the French forward that they hope could propel them towards promotion to the Premier League.
Gouffran has made only one appearance for Newcastle so far this season, with that coming in the Capital One Cup versus Northampton Town.
However given Newcastle’s shaky early season form, which has seen them struggle for goals – despite over £50m worth of investment, it remains to be seen if Gouffran will be sold. With him offering another option to Steve McClaren upfront.
The striker has also indicated he would be willing to stay and fight for a place up top at Newcastle, a position he hasn’t regularly played since his move from Bordeaux two and a half years ago, with him often being shifted out onto the wing.
Newcastle Fans. Do you think you should keep hold of Gouffran or move him on? Let us know your thoughts below!
