French giants still plotting move for Arsenal outcast

The jury still remains out on Arsene Wenger down at the Emirates as Arsenal look to improve on a pretty poor campaign last season.

The Gunners fans lining the bar here in the pub were seemingly divided on who they wanted to see come in as manager should Wenger have left earlier this summer but he signed a new deal and will remain in London for at least another two years.

He’s made some good signings over the past few weeks and the arrival of Ligue 1 favourite Alexandre Lacazette is certainly a cracking piece of business.

But there’s another French striker already on the Gunners books who’s future isn’t looking certain in the slightest and that’s Olivier Giroud.

He’s a player who divides the Gunners supporters despite his goalscoring stats being seemingly good.

But according to French outfit Le10Sport, he’s still being lined up by Marseille, who are keen on bringing him back to France before the window shits at the end of the month.

The 30-year-old will have a real battle on his hands to stay in contention next season, especially if Alexis Sanchez stays at the club.

West Ham and Everton were also linked with a move for Giroud but this far, he very much remains an Arsenal player.

Landlord’s Verdict

Giroud has acquitted himself well over the past few seasons but now, it’s time for him to move onto pastures new at the Emirates.

He’s a good player but with Arsenal strengthening heavily this summer, he’s going to be surplus to requirements.

Wenger would be best on freeing up space for another player elsewhere instead.
