Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not sure what to think after reading today’s edition of the Daily Star.
The publication claims that Louis van Gaal is willing to hand AC Milan’s transfer flop Adil Rami a lifeline in a bid to solve their defensive crisis.
Punters are not shocked that the former Netherlands head coach is scrapping to find experienced defenders after failing to find replacements for Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the summer.
And some see it a mind-boggling that he was able to spend around £150 million in the summer while still managing to have a vulnerable defence.
But the Red Devils will hope that 28-year-old Rami will be able to provide the quality and experience that is so desperately required at the moment.
The reason why there is an inkling that he may be available is because over the past few days, Rossoneri boss Filippo Inzaghi has hinted that he could offload the French international defender as he has faded out of his first team plans.
Rami initially joined Milan on loan from Valencia last January before making his stay permanent in the summer.
Manchester United fans. Is Adil Rami a good transfer alternative to the likes of Mats Hummels and Gerard Pique or are you still holding out hope to land either of the latter pair? Let us know your thoughts below.
