There are some relieved looks on the faces of Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as Metro claim Younes Kaboul will not be leaving the club.
It was only this week in the tavern that we were discussing a potential move to Arsenal for the French international defender, and our punters were not impressed.
Of course, Sol Campbell elected to make the move across North London back in 2001 and that decision still rankles with Spurs fans.
It had been claimed that Kaboul was willing to leave Tim Sherwood’s side and become a Gunner, but as rumours intensified, the former Portsmouth defender himself has come out and made it very clear that a transfer to the Emirates Stadium will not be happening.
Kaboul noted on Twitter: ‘I can confirm 100% that the rumour about me joining Arsenal is not true!!! #coys.’ As our punters note, you cannot believe everything a player says, but given how clear Kaboul has made the fact he will not be leaving the club, we have to say we think Spurs fans can rest easily – at least for now.
Arsene Wenger meanwhile will certainly have to bring in another defender this summer, and as we reported recently, has a £100 million transfer kitty to help do that.
Will Tottenham sign Younes Kaboul to a new contract or will he be leaving for pastures new this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
