Monaco are slowly becoming the bane of all in the Football Transfer Tavern after it was revealed today that the big spending French side are lining up a move for Newcastle United ace Hatem Ben Arfa this summer.
The Sunderland Echo report that the newly promoted Ligue 1 side are willing to offer around £10 million to lure the 26-year-old back to his native country in time for the start of the new season in news that has left Magpies fans in the tavern concerned.
Although he struggled with injuries during the recent campaign he is still a firm favourite at St. James’ Park and interest from Liverpool was registered earlier in the year as they look to add the exciting attacking midfielder to their ranks.
Ben Arfa, who is under contract under 2016, could now join Porto duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho at the Stade Louis II after their combined £60 million moves from the Portuguese club while long-term Chelsea target Radamel Falcao appears close to signing for the club also with a reported £51 million transfer agreed.
Alan Pardew will be desperate to hold onto the French international but a big money offer may prove too good to turn down.
