Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are left stunned, with talkSPORT revealing that Lyon youngster Nabil Fekir has turned down a move to the Premier League champions.
It was in fact the 21-year-old’s father who announced the news about his son’s decision.
Fekir has been in the spotlight this season having scored nine goals in Ligue 1 already this season.
This exciting form has caught the attention of a list of clubs and punters thought that a move to the Etihad was almost certain after representatives of Fekir tried forcing the move through.
But his dad, Mohamed Fekir, has now said that his son has parted with those representatives as his son looks to kick on at Lyon.
“They [the representatives] pushed for him to sign for City,” Fekir said.
“But I told them ‘if it is the case that he would go to City and find himself on the bench it does not interest me and it does not interest my son either.
“He loves to play, he does not like to be a substitute. They pushed him to sign for City, that’s why he preferred to end things with them.
“Manchester [City] were willing. We discussed this with the scouts, but we prefer that Nabil stays here for at least a year. Now is not the time to go abroad.
