Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we are slightly shocked by the claim in the Daily Mail who are foreseeing a move from Liverpool for Hatem Ben Arfa.
The midfielder has been on the radar of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers for a while now and the club are looking for a deal potentially involving Andy Carroll returning to the North East. The 25-year-old midfielder has been injury stricken of late and has not actually played for the club since the 10th of December. Of course, the Magpies have been struggling before a recent revival registering back-to-back wins against Aston Villa and Chelsea. Add this to the influx of what seems to be half of France and fans are hoping things will be better in the second half of the season – maybe not if this latest rumour is true.
Ben Arfa has become an integral player for the club and has been nothing but top notch for the Magpies. Whilst Rodgers may have his eye on the midfielder, he could well face stiff competition. Paris Saint Germain are the boyhood club of Ben Arfa and he has previously expressed his love for them, as reported by ESPN in January.
