Frenkie de Jong believes he will cost in the region of €70M-€75M

Tottenham Hotspur may now have a price that they will have to meet, should they try to bring one of their transfer targets to the club.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Frenkie de Jong is thought to believe that Ajax have set a price in the region of €70million and €75million for his services.

Spurs are thought to be one of a number of Europe’s biggest clubs to be interested in the Holland international, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all credited with links.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were always going to need to break the bank to land the 21-year-old talent, however, the report also suggests that they may have a strong chance of landing him ahead of their competition.

It is claimed that De Jong is becoming nervous about Barcelona’s interest dwindling, as he has not heard from the Catalan giants in the last six weeks, amid rumours the La Liga outfit are looking at other options.

The Verdict:

It is no real surprise that Ajax will command a huge figure for their rising star, however, Tottenham will now have a figure in mind that they may have to reach.

The 21-year-old has been touted as one of football’s brightest prospects and there are no doubts that he could become one of the best in the game as he continues to develop.

However, with the €70m-€75m figure in mind, it remains to be seen if Spurs will pay that kind of money for him, especially considering Daniel Levy and his stance when it comes to huge transfer fees.
