Fresh hope for Arsenal as transfer target snubs Serie A switch

morata.jpgFor once, Arsenal fans seem to be smiling here in the Football Transfer Tavern and that is down to the The Independent and their claim about Alvaro Morata.

The Spanish forward has been a long-term target of Arsene Wenger and despite claims that a deal had basically been done to send the player to Juventus, according to Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez, that is not the case at all.

In news that has Arsenal fans once again begging their manager to actually splash the cash this summer, Perez claimed live on Spanish radio that: “I am friends with the Juventus executives and president Andrea Agnelli.

“But I have not spoken to them regarding Morata and, honestly, the possibilities that he goes to play in Turin are zero.”

As one of our punters notes, this does not mean that Morata will not be staying at the Bernabeu with the young forward keen to move on and get some playing time under his belt.

With fellow young pretender Jese Rodriguez to return from injury, not to mention the fact that he is behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order already, Morata is likely to seek a move still with Los Blancos still trailing Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

Arsenal fans. Is this a second chance to land Morata? Should Wenger finally put his hand in his pocket and buy someone before the World Cup? Let us know your thoughts below.
