From Holland: West Ham want player similar to Andy Carroll to lead the line next season

West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with what Manuel Pellegrini has been able to do so far and will be hoping it will continue for the remainder of the transfer window.

The new Hammers boss has been very active in the transfer market so far and has already added three players, with a couple more thought to be on the verge of joining up with him at the London Stadium in the near future.

However, it appears the Chilean is not content with the work he has already conducted and according to reports in Holland, the Irons are thought to be interested in one of Eredivise’s prolific goalscorers.

RTV Oost are claiming that Wout Weghorst is 99 per cent certain to leave AZ Alkmaar this summer having scored 18 times and that West Ham are one of the clubs thought to be rumoured with a move.

The striker is strong in the air and can lead the line very well, which could mean that the Hammers may have to splash out to bring him to the London Stadium.

Landlord’s Verdict

The West Ham fans in the Tavern will be delighted with the ambition being shown by their team this summer to ensure that they compete in the Premier League and would be pleased to see a player like Weghorst join them.

He would replicate the way that Andy Carroll plays, however, with more goals to his name, the locals in the bar will be hopeful he can continue to find the back of the net in the English top-flight as regularly as he does in the Eredivisie.
