From Turkey: Silva wants World Cup defender to bolster defence and could be available for £13.2M

Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting the side to make improvements this summer as they look to rebuild following a disastrous year.

The locals in the bar watched their side spend big during last summer’s transfer window, however, they saw their side near the bottom of the table with the prospect of relegation once being considered for the majority of the year.

Marco Silva was brought in to replace Sam Allardyce and will be tasked with trying to get the Goodison Park outfit back into a place for European football and he will know he will need to make additions to his squad to ensure the club has that chance.

According to reports made by Fanatik in Turkey, Everton are considering to make a move for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida. The Croatia international has been impressing for his nation at the World Cup, and the Premier League side are keen to bolster their defence.

It has been suggested that the Toffees have not made an official offer for the 29-year-old, although they may need to make an offer in the region of £13.2million to get him.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Toffees need to add some defensive players to their squad after a number of their players failed to look solid last season, whilst the majority of them are also starting to become too old for the day-to-day physical demands Everton will require.

Vida would prove to be a solid acquisition for Silva’s side if they did bring him to Goodison Park and a figure of £13.2m would not be considered too much by the locals in the Tavern if that’s what it took to bring him to the Premier League.
