The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see their latest signing in action…
It has been a very exciting summer for the Citizens, with Pep Guardiola’s side spending heavily in the transfer market over the last few months, and their latest signing has generated a lot of attention in the Transfer Tavern.
Benjamin Mendy was confirmed as a Man City player on Monday, and with the defender proving his worth as one of Europe’s best last season, the excitement in the Transfer Tavern has been palpable ever since.
However, it appears as though the fans may have to wait slightly longer than anticipated to see their latest signing, with ESPN correspondent Jonathan Smith reporting on Twitter that Pep Guardiola has revealed that Mendy has an injury and is set to miss between 2 and 3 weeks worth of action.
Guardiola excited by the arrival of Mendy but says he has a small injury and will be ready in 2 or 3 weeks. So no debut against Real Madrid.

The injury has come at a bad time, with the season just a few weeks away, so the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are slightly concerned.
This is frustrating news for the Citizens, as Mendy was brought in to be a regular starter for the club. As a result, Guardiola’s plans will surely have to shift, with the side lacking depth on the left-hand side following the departure of Gael Clichy.
Still, new signing Danilo should be able to fill in if needed, potentially giving Guardiola a solution.
He’s likely to miss the first week or two of the season if he is unavailable for 3 weeks, which will certainly frustrate Guardiola.
Mendy is already a few weeks behind his teammates in his pre-season preparations, so this is a real problem for the club, though they will almost certainly be able to handle it.
