The resident Reds in the Tavern have all been saying the same things about their club’s second choice left-back, Alberto Moreno. The Spaniard has come under scrutiny in recent years for being everything that Liverpool’s defensive line has become infamous for. Moreno’s ability to switch off in big games has been widely documented and the Kopites propping up our bar yesterday were all saying the same thing.
Alberto Moreno managed 90 minutes in yesterday’s dead-rubber second leg tie against Porto at Anfield and it seems clear, with yesterday evening being his 5th 90-minute outing in the Champions League, that Klopp prefers him in Europe. In the Premier League, Liverpool fans have been expressing their relief at summer signing, Andy Robertson, as his calm, assured displays are everything Liverpool have been missing at left-back.
The recent form of Robertson has lowered Moreno’s stock among the red half of Merseyside and last night’s showing was another reminder to the Liverpool fans behind the bar that Klopp might still have work to do on his squad, despite the rip-roaring form of their incredible front three.
With that in mind, here are the Liverpool fan’s thoughts on their Spanish left-back:
Well that was instantly forgettable. Lallana and Ings bright. Can good. Moreno everything I dislike about Moreno. Regressed to the 2016-17 version. Stop trying too hard to be a hero on your own, Alberto. #lfc

Moreno looked a bit off the pace today. Bar an injury to Robertson, I don’t think he’ll start another game this season.
