Punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are reflecting on yesterday’s deadline day marathon while reading in Metro that Fulham made a late swoop for Everton’s John Heitinga on loan.
As one of our less sore headed punters notes, we have spent a fair few months noting that the defender looked like he would be on his way out of the club after failing to hold down a first team place.
One of our more savvy punters noted that after the transfer of Philippe Senderos to Valencia, it paved the way for the transfer of Heitinga, who is seen by Fulham as the player to help in their fight for survival.
Senderos completed a surprise switch to Valencia and as our landlord notes, it is a good job that he didn’t opt for a move to Turkey given how badly he defends against former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba! In La Liga, at least for now, he should be safe!
The deals came thick and fast on deadline day and we in the tavern are almost as exhausted as Jim White with all the drama and last gasp signings.
How impressed were you with Fulham’s captures of Mitroglou, Holtby and Heitinga? Let us know your thoughts below.
